Google is still sort of supporting AMP, but most of the major news sites have moved away from them. Google isn’t promoting AMP any more at least for news in Top Stories, rather their emphasis has shifted more towards Core Web Vitals.

News sites was the one area where using AMP did previously have benefits, and now those benefits are gone, so there’s no real reason to implement now. The basic implementation is very problematic, and it takes massive resources to actually implement AMP which might as well be used to actually fix page speed issues on the site.

Hi djpunjab,

Thanks for your question! We haven’t used any tools to create AMP pages specifically for PHP, but there are multiple plugins/modules for PHP powered sites that use things like WordPress or Drupal.

AMP has more to do with the markup of the HTML that is output from PHP. So, you can still do whatever you need to do in PHP, but control the output so that the HTML is AMP HTML.
